Porter's Lodge

The oldest surviving building in Portsmouth Naval Base, orignally the residence of the Dockyard Porter who was responsible for guarding security of the yard and its boundaries, and for opening and locking the Dockyard gates. It is currently used as a ticket office for the Mary Rose Trust on the ground floor and as offices for a number of local businesses on the first and second floor.
 
The refurbished building won a Commendation in the Portsmouth Society's Best Restoration Awards 1994.
