Cell Block

A two-storey red brick building with stone cornice containing 12 cells and some wonderfully ornate cast-iron lavatories. Originally it also had an adjoining police post and search area. The building played an important part in Dockyard security and the prevention of theft of materials.

1990's refurbishment works to the exterior included replacement of parapet and chimney stacks.

In 2014-2015, with support from the Regional Growth Fund and in partnership with the University of Portsmouth, the Cell Block was restored and converted for its current occupation as a University operated Innovation hub.
