Boathouse 5

Built as a mast house, but later used for the construction, repair and storage of small boats. Along with Boathouse 7 it is a good example of the timber-framed buildings once common in Naval dockyards. The annexe to the south was a sail loft and there were originally brick-lined sawpits to the west. Timbers for mast construction were stored in the adjacent Mast Pond to prevent them seasoning unevenly or cracking.

The building is currently used as an exhibition area with a Horrible Histories, Pirates interactive exhibition opening for Easter 2019.
