Block Mills

One of the most historically important buildings in Portsmouth Naval Base and the site of the world’s first mechanized production process using Marc Brunel’s famous block-making machines. The Trust is currently negotiating with MOD Defence Estates terms on which the Block Mills could be made publicly accessible and converted to house a skills centre, an exhibition on the history of the building and its role in the industrial revolution, and headquarters for the Portsmouth Royal Dockyard Historical Trust.
