Acute - Whaler

Acute is a 3-in-1 whaler, so called because she can be propelled by oar, sail and motor.  Acute is made from layers of wooden planks fitted at right angles to each other, in a pattern called double diagonal.  Between the layers, a gasket of calico cloth and white lead putty keeps out the water.  The boat builders used copper nails to rivet the structure to the internal frames and to the joints between the planks.

Acute has intentionally been left in her unrestored state.
