D-Day at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard

6 June 2021

The 2021 Commemoration of D-Day by PNBPT and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard will take place on Sunday 6th June from 10am.

Visitors will have rare access to the Heritage pontoon and be able to get up-close to PNBPT’s unrivalled collection of small boats involved in twentieth century conflicts.

The newly-restored Falklands War landing craft, F8, will be in action in front of the public for the first time, ‘landing’ on the slipway next to Boathouse 4 at 12.30pm. The project to return her to full working order was successfully completed during lockdown.

In addition, there will be live 1940’s music from the Charlalas, period military vehicles and model boats. In the presence of Normandy veterans, the day will draw to an end with a sunset ceremony and blessing at 4pm.

As a thank you to those who have raised money for good causes by buying a lottery ticket, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is offering free entry to National Lottery players after 12 noon on Sunday 6th June.

More than £40 billion has been raised for good causes by players over the past 27 years in the areas of arts, sport, heritage and community. Use any National Lottery ticket – old or new – to get FREE entry on the day.
