Porter's Lodge

The oldest surviving building in Portsmouth Naval Base, originally the residence of the Dockyard Porter who was responsible for guarding security of the yard and its boundaries, and for opening and locking the Dockyard gates.

The building is now home to local artist Lizzie Cornelius' shop I Can See The Sea. The first and second floors serve as office space for a number of local businesses.

The refurbished building won a Commendation in the Portsmouth Society's Best Restoration Awards 1994.
